Analysis
Euro area inflation rose to 4.0% in Oct from 3.8%, and the ECB held its deposit rate at 2.50% on 29 Oct while a hike on 10 Dec is widely expected. Germany's economy grew 0.2% in Q3, above the 0.1% expected, and its composite PMI was 53.4 against 53.8 and its services PMI 52.5 against 52.9, both well above 50.
European stock futures fell about 0.4% on 4 Nov after Democrats won both chambers of the US Congress and AI-related shares sold off. HSBC chartists see the DAX stuck between its 50-day and 200-day averages, in a range of 25,000 to 25,700 in Oct.
